Our Team
Steven Rumage - Camp Director
"I am looking forward to being your host during
your next visit to camp. Where else can one breathe in the sweetness of
fresh salt air…walk among the pines in the morning mist…glimpse shore birds
gathering on a freshening breeze…enjoy true Christian hospitality and the
fellowship of friends…watch the campfire glowing orange against the thickening
dark…and at the end of a long day, hear the rhythm of the surf crashing
upon the beach under a sky flashing with stars? Who can say that in such
an atmosphere a person’s mind is not reached,
their heart not stirred, or their faith not strengthened? Working together,
we will continue to strive to further enhance the experiences of those who
come to enjoy a time of relaxation, fellowship, discovery, and renewal at this
special place on the Oregon coast."
Anami "sparkle" Mazur - Program Director
"Camp Magruder has been my home away from home for over 25 years. Watching the campers grow from wide-eyed first timers to experienced counselors and leaders is the greatest joy in my life. This is the most amazing place in the world!"
Diana "twinkle" Gutzke - Office Manager
"Being at camp makes me feel complete, brings me peace and I can't imagine being anywhere else... when you come and visit us I can guarantee many genuine smiles, a warm welcome and very good memories."
Kim "twilight" Nelson - Housekeeping Manager
Rebecca "cookie" McClaskey - Food Service Manager
Michael McDonald - Head Cook
"I've been an executive chef most of my life
in Eugene Oregon. Also an avid bike commuter. I love working at camp with
the campers - they have so much fun!"
Alex "chopper" McClaskey - Head Cook
Sue Basom - Assistant Cook
Sue comes to Rockaway Beach from the San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
"I'm here at Camp Magruder because it's a way cool place to be!"
Evelyn Burley - Prep Cook
"My husband and I have only lived in Rockaway Beach for a little over three years. When he was hired at Camp Magruder in 2005 I would go and visit him at work and fell in love with the camp. I then volunteered just to be a part of it. Now I'm staff! I feel very fortunate to work in such an atmosphere as Camp Magruder. The people are as beautiful as the surrounding woods and beach."
Mark Burley - Maintenance Supervisor
"Camp Magruder and I seem to have a common link. I truly believe I was meant to work here. Maintenance of buildings and grounds is a huge responsability, and I try to accept the challenges."
Mike Haynes - On-Site Maintenance Staff
Mike was born and raised here in Tillamook. He spent some time working
in a nursery in the valley, then came back to Tillamook to work in the
logging industry, where he learned to value and respect our forests. August
of 2007 found Mike at Camp Magruder as a very much valued maintenance man.
Now Mike continues to reside at Camp as our full time, on-site, go to maintenance
team member.
